How long have you been a photographer?

I have been shooting professionally since 2012. My career started in action sports and I began shooting weddings in 2016. My wife Katie, is my regular second shooter and has been shooting weddings with me since 2017.

Where are you based out of?

We are based out of Golden, British Columbia. We definitely offer travel and will discuss any associated cost to travel when booking your wedding.

Does your wife always shoot with you?

For the most part yes! However, she does have her own career as a pilot, so in the case we cannot arrange her schedule around a wedding we will bring an alternative second shooter that we think has a similar style and great eye. I on the other hand will always be on a shoot and editing 100% of the photos so you can count on consistency in our style.

How many images do you include?

Our packages include 80-100 edited images per hour of shooting time. We can customize packages so those details would be discussed if you were to request an alternative.

What is your turnaround time?

6-8 weeks, in most cases we get them out early!

Do you give RAW unedited images?

No. A lot of our style comes from how we work with it afterwards, and we shoot in a way to create images that work with our editing style. We do multiple sorts through to select the best images and the ones with everyone’s eyes open! If you feel we have missed a specific photo, by all means ask us and we can go through and check we haven’t missed one for you.

How do payment schedules work?

To hold your date we require a $500 non-refundable deposit. The balance of the booking is required by the date of the wedding.
*Update to help in this difficult time we are accepting $200 deposits and can arrange a payment plan that works for you, contact us to discuss this*

Can you photoshop us?

We do edit all our photos for lighting, colour and overall look. We can do some skin touch ups but if you would like us to edit more detail such as such as blemishes or anything temporary like bruises, scrapes, acne etc. let us know ahead of time and we can customize your package to include this editing.

What do we wear for photos?

Comfort is key! If you’re uncomfortable you’re not going to look genuine in the photographs. Generally we try to leave wardrobe up to you as everyone has a different style but if you’re not sure feel free to ask us about it and we can give suggestions for your location and setting.

What if there’s bad weather?

Couples shoots: We like to encourage couples to embrace what comes with the day, let’s dance in the rain or play in foggy forests. These situations sometimes make for the best photos. We can also plan for alternate location in case of different weather conditions. If it’s terrible and won’t be conducive to nice photos we will reschedule.

Weddings: Obviously the weather on these days is out of our control, but we will gladly shoot in whatever weather comes our way or we can plan for a rainy day location for the couples photos.

What will it be like to work with you?

We like to send a questionnaire ahead of time to get a feel for what is most important to you to capture and gives us both an idea of what to expect for the day of!

We’re awkward in front of a camera, is that okay?

Of course! Almost everybody feels this way and our goal when shooting weddings is to make you feel comfortable and look natural in photos. We like to lightly direct so you don’t have those, ‘what do I do with my hands?’ moment but don’t feel awkwardly posed and can go with the flow, being yourselves and this will create the most authentic photos. If we’re not directing, means you’re already doing perfectly and just keep being you!

Will shoot digital or film?

We always shoot digital. However, I have been working with film more and more lately so if you have an affinity for it and would like to do a shoot on film just send us a message and we can discuss package options.

Do you shoot details?

Yes! Unless you’d rather us focus on other things we will make sure to cover some details, this will be on your questionnaire.

Do you shoot family photos?

At weddings we will gladly take some family photos for you, when else do you get such a big group of people together! We do ask you to be a little prepared with a list of what family members you would like in photos and perhaps a bridesmaid and/or groomsman that can round up family members for their turn because we have no idea who Uncle Joe is.

How much time will we spend shooting photos?

This really depends on you! We’ve shot weddings where we’ve had hours before the ceremony and multiple locations and we’ve worked on weddings where things are running late and we only get about 30 minutes to get couples photos. Ideally, if we can have an hour before the ceremony for the first look and bridal party photos, and an hour after the ceremony closer to sunset for couples photos. A full hour gives you a bit of leeway in case things are running a bit late! Of course, that is a rough guideline if photos are less important to you we can squeeze it into 30 minutes or we can spend a couple of hours get a variety depending on what you would like.

Do you use backups?

Yes, after the wedding, the first thing we do is upload and back up our photos. We keep backups for 3 years just in case you lose your copy by chance, after 3 years we reserve the right to clear these hard drives.
